Treating PCOS Symptoms – Acne Treatments
Most teenagers going through puberty will experience some degree of acne – it is known that androgen production stimulates sebum production by the skin which promotes acne. Individuals with PCOS with excessive androgen production often have more severe prolonged acne.
Treatment of acne is often helped by androgen suppression using birth control pills and/or metformin. Peripheral androgen blockers can also be helpful.
